A novel

..."And so it went around the world everyone armed to their teeth. Someone got over excited and the world burned for 100,000 years. This is what we tell our children, or at least one of the versions of the story.
It was our own greed and hate that lead to the fall of man. Fortunately for us enough humans survived and were able to reproduce and replenish our species." ...

I am pleased to share this exert from a novel that I am helping edit (  Note, I received the writers consent). This is a novel that is written for an adult audience. It is raw, it is poetic, it is dark, and it is relentless in it's delivery of the inner workings of the author. I look forward to finishing an edited version so this story can be shared with a generation of cynical and free-thinking adults.

Nature

The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature.

~ Joseph Campbell

I feel as though this statement is exactly what I am aiming to do when I made the statement "Finding Center". There is a rhythm and energy to the Universe that you cannot control and it is when I accept the inability to control my nature that I find myself wading in an ocean that is miles deep. Only knee deep and enjoying the roll of the tide.

Dr. Seuss :)

He is perhaps one of the best writers and philosophical thinkers of our time.

My favorite Dr. Seuss line of all time.

"Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you."

Love who you are even when you find yourself feeling disappointed, defeated , or angry; There truly is no one who can be you. I struggle with this idea all the time, and it is wasted energy to be disappointed with yourself. Living is not spent reflecting on the past, but existing in the present and looking forward.

Little pond

Unfortunately, we inevitably will come across people who have an ego problem. Luckily, I've come to understand that they are just big fish in a little pond. What is most important about this statement is they really fail to comprehend the complexity of the world outside of their bubble. We are all just the size of an electron(probably smaller) in the scheme of the Universe we live.Yes even you, Mister Arrogance.

Ask yourself this.
Will you have made a positive difference in the world before your life ended?

Mr. Fish, respect the fish in your pond because you don't get to pick a new pond in this lifetime.

The quieter you become

...The more you can hear. We spend so much time talking and thinking that we rarely hear the world that actually matters around us. Nature is a perfect mirror for us and if you allow yourself to hear the quiet hum you'll find your peace where you can remember who you are and what words inside your thoughts are actually your own. It is in separating yourself from the external environment that you actually become part of the flow of energy in the natural world around you. Separate to become part of the whole.

swimming the ocean

Sometimes you can't dictate the way the tide pulls you, you just have to keep yourself afloat. The ocean is an amazingly complex system of interactions. Storms, sunshine, creatures of all sizes and dispositions, and a million places you can call your home. The trick is to know that danger and obstacles are often unavoidable, and in the end the journey is incomplete and unrewarding without a little struggle.

Casualties of War

We often discuss war and atrocities in a numberical sense. As hard data; number of people killed and injured, number of buildings destroyed, total dollars of destruct, etc.

What is often not accounted for is the lives of people that drastically change, but are not dead or immediately injured. Orphaned children are the hardest hit by war I feel and it is time we stop creating wars at the expense of tomorrow's population.
